DMart parent Avenue Supermarts’ shares soar 4%; here is why

Shares of DMart’s parent company, Avenue Supermarts Ltd, surged 3.84% to an intraday high of ₹4,215 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, June 18. This follows the retail giant’s announcement about opening a new store in Agra today.

The company opened a new store at Ratan Mall in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on June 18, Dmart said in a regulatory filing to the bourses.

In May, the company opened two new DMart stores, including one in the Express Zone Mall in Malad, Mumbai, on May 6, and the other at Phagwara in Kapurthala, Punjab, on May 10.

With this new addition, Avenue Supermarts’ total store count stands at 421, the filing further stated.

DMart Q4 results

The company reported a 2% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹551 crore in the March FY25 quarter (Q4 FY25), compared to ₹563 crore logged in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

However, its revenue from operations rose 17% YoY to ₹14,872 crore in the quarter under review, as against ₹12,726.6 crore registered in Q4 FY24.

On the operational level, Avenue Supermarts’ EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) stood at ₹955.3 crore in Q4 FY25, jumping 1.2% YoY from ₹943.7 crore seen in the March FY24 quarter. However, its EBITDA margin shrank to 6.4% versus 7.4% in the year-ago quarter.

Avenue Supermarts' stock performance

At around 1:09 pm, Avenue Supermart’s share was trading 3.59% higher at ₹4,205 apiece.

The stock lost 3.56% over the previous week but has gained 5.08% since the beginning of June. The scrip has soared 2.99% so far in the first quarter of FY26 and 18.03% on a year-to-date basis.

It hit a 52-week low of ₹3,340 on March 3, 2025, and a high of ₹5,484.85 on September 24, 2024.

Avenue Supermarts' total market capitalisation stood at ₹2.74 lakh crore at the time of writing this report, according to data on the NSE.
